Distal resection of posterior tibial veins in postthrombotic disease

Abstract

Among the resections of recanalized deep veins, distal resection of the posterior tibial veins is the most common. A special role in the development of venous outflow decompensation in post-thrombotic disease belongs to the dysfunction of the muscular-venous "pump" of the lower leg. The degree of impairment of its drainage function correlates with the severity of trophic disorders of the lower limbs skin. Striving for maximal operative correction of the main functional "knots" of the muscular-venous "pump", one of which is the distal section of the posterior tibial veins, is justified.
