Abstract

A new anaestheticum avertin or E 107 has recently become quite widespread in Germany. Chemically, this substance is a tribromide ethyl alcohol-CBr³CH²OH. It is a white, crystalline powder, melting between 79° and 80°, soluble in water at 272% at t° of 20° and 372% at t° of 40°. At higher temperatures avertine decomposes.
