An experimental study of eclampsia. Murakami. (Nippon Fujinkagakkai Zassi, 1932, 7-12)
Message 1. A., having established that the biological significance of glycogen has not yet been sufficiently clarified, ascribes to it not only participation in sugar metabolism, but also other functions. Studying the essence of eclampsia, Murakami undertook a study to clarify the hypothesis about the specific effect of placental glycogen on toxic products formed during pregnancy and found that 1) a solution of liver and placenta glycogen reveals a certain detoxifying effect, 2) the latter is determined by the glycogen content in this organ and is even stronger , the more glycogen, 3) the detoxifying effect of the eclamptic placenta is weaker than normal, and 4) the process of absorption is not involved in the detoxification mechanism. Message 3. Based on the data indicated in the 1st message, a, I carefully studied the fluctuations of glycogen in the placenta with toxicosis of pregnancy and especially with eclampsia.
