Lithopedion after abdominal ectopic pregnancy
The abdominal form of ectopic pregnancy, according to A. D. Alovsky, occurs in 0.4%. The place for its development can be any part of the abdominal cavity, and the bed can be the intestines, omentum, peritoneum, stomach, liver and other organs. However, most often the place of localization of abdominal pregnancy is the Douglas space. At the same time, the fertilized egg is attached on one of the wide ligaments, or between the sacro-uterine ligaments. Sometimes in such cases, the fetus dies, mummifies and, encrusted in layers, turns into a fossilized one, which can be in the abdominal cavity for many years.
