Effect of ultraviolet light on the vitamin C content of cow's milk
As is well known, in recent years, for the treatment of rickets intensively recommended feeding children with milk subjected to ultraviolet light. According to Raehör's observations (Klin. Woch., 1926, No. 50) such lighting not only significantly worsens the smell and taste of milk, but also deprives it of antiscorbutic and antirachitis properties on the grounds of destruction of vitamins C and A under the influence of significant formation of ozone.
