To the etiology and pathology of typhus
Interesting observations on this subject are published by Wolbach, Todd and Paefrey (Centr. F. Bacter., Bd. 74, B.3 / 4), members of the American Commission sent by the Society of Cr. Cross to Poland. Carefully and impeccably staged observations of lice have shown that before feeding them to typhus patients, it is never possible to find Rickettsia Prowazekі in the body of lice; on the contrary, in a certain number of lice feeding on the blood of typhus, intracellular clusters of Rickettsia are found.
