The first work on syphilis in world literature
Published by Medgiz in 1956, Girolamo Fracastoro's book On Syphilis deserves attention in many ways. First, it is the earliest source on syphilidology. In addition, the very fact of the appearance in printed form of a work, forgotten among the scientist's manuscripts for four centuries, is interesting.
