Puncture of the subclavian vein in the intensive care unit
In our clinic, catheterization of the subclavian vein has been used since 1969. During this time, the puncture was performed in 412 patients (age from 5 to 82 years) who were treated in the intensive care unit. For the purpose of long-term infusion of medicinal substances, catheterization of the subclavian vein was performed in 252 patients with gastric bleeding, sepsis, anaerobic infection, tetanus, as well as after severe interventions, in particular, after restorative operations on the great vessels for the administration of heparin.
