The author gives a brief outline of the development of scholarship on syphilitic endocarditis. John Hunter did not recognize syphilitic heart disease. The first cases of verrucous or verrucous endocarditis in syphilis, described by Convisart in 181 tons, Julia, Gamberini, Lombroso and Goodvidge Scarenzio, Baumgarten, Jаnеvау, and others are doubtful, as the participation of others does not exclude others.
