Possibility of improving environmental performance of diesel engine by the use of compressed natural gas and exhaust gas recirculation, methanol and ethanol fuel emulsions is determined. It allows to reduce nitrogen oxides level in exhaust gases, to save diesel fuel and to improve effective performance.
Aerodynamic configurations and characteristics of transverse fans are given. Their advantages in comparison with radial and axial fans are determined. In particular, transverse fans may have different width under the same rational configuration. Due to it, when recalculating the characteristic by similarity method, the field of their application is significantly enlarged.
General optimization scheme for suspension system of high-speed tracked vehicle is presented. On its basis, a method for selection of rational parameters of suspension system is developed.
Alternative designs of diesel injectors’ sprayers are considered. Advantages of sprayers with tangential spraying nozzles are shown. Research on optimization of geometric proportions of the sprayer’s elements was conducted.
The paper deals with the problem of minimization of power for mobile machine movement by means of its distribution between wheels. Comparison of total required power values is made by the examples of most common methods of mobile machine control, namely using of unblocked differential, limited-slip differential, full blocking of differentials.
A seed drill equipped with sowing devices with asymmetrical profile of seed cells and with a ledge in the form of hypocycloid has been developed and made. Optimum values of design parameters of seed roller in actual practice are determined. Original methods for determination of seeds distribution in a row and crushing of seeds in laboratory and field conditions are given.
Functional dependencies between all relevant parameters of wheeled vehicles of different drive types and driving conditions with maximum height of obstacle and width of ditch are obtained for the first time. The dependencies allow to ensure at the design stage the optimum axle weight distribution of machine for specified operating conditions, and thus maximum possible traction force and cross-country ability. The influence of resistance of motion on cross-country ability of wheeled vehicle is shown by specific example.
Results of calculation and experimental research of thermal and strain state and oil consumption in turbocharger bearing unit are presented. Recommendations for the improvement of bearing unit design are given.
On the results of bench tests of serpentine additives to lubricants for internal combustion engines of various types the main exploitation effects of that kind of substances as a new class of raw materials for chemmotology are generalized. It is concluded that minerals belong to the classification group of friction modifiers. Calculation models and ways to increase the affinity of components of mineral additives to metals providing longevity of formed protective coatings are considered.
