We are pleased to announce that the FEC ranks 9th among 60 selected journals on the list of “2015 Excellent International Impact Academic Journals of China (Humanities and Social Sciences)” as per the Annual Report for International Citation of Chinese Academic Journals (CAJ-IJCR) newly released by China Academic Journals (CD) Electronic Publishing House, Tsinghua University Library and International Academic Literature Evaluation Research Center. This is the second time the journal appears on the list since 2014. According to the Report, the impact factor of the FEC is 0.133 while the international total cites (excl. self-citation) are 42, a good progress compared to the figures released last year, 0.082 and 31.

Initiated at the end of 2012, the CAJ-IJCR was designed to reflect the international impact of China’s academic journals from the perspective of bibliometrics and in a comprehensive and objective way. This academic journal evaluation is the first of its kind in China. So far 4 annual reports have been released, all well-received and attracting much attention from both the academic circles and the periodical industry in China.

In cooperation with the Canadian Economics Association, Frontiers of Economics in China is pleased to announce the winner of the FEC Best Paper Award in 2018:


      “Trade and Innovation: The Role of Scale and Competition Effects,”by Kevin Lim, Daniel Trefler, and Miaojie Yu

The award is for a paper of excellence relating to China or the Chinese Diaspora, selected from the papers presented at the 2018 CEA Conference at McGill University. The selection committee is comprised of Zhiqi Chen (Carleton University),Yingfeng Xu (University of Alberta), and Xiaodong Zhu (University of Toronto). 


Frontiers of Economics in China is an economics journal edited at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics and Higher Education Press of China. Issued quarterly and distributed worldwide, the journal is available both online and in hard-copy. FEC welcomes submissions of theoretical and empirical papers from all fields of economics, particularly those with an emphasis on the Chinese economy and other emerging, developing or transition economies.

We are pleased to announce that the FEC ranks 5th among 60 selected journals on the list of "2017 Excellent International Impact Academic Journals of China (Humanities and Social Sciences)" as per the Annual Report for International Citation of Chinese Academic Journals (CAJ-IJCR) recently released by China Academic Journals (CD) Electronic Publishing House and Tsinghua University Library at the 3rd Forum on the Future of Chinese Academic Journals held in Beijing. This is the third time the journal appears on the list since 2014. According to the Report, FEC’s International Clout Index stands at 144.740, its impact factor is 0.234, while its international total cites (excluding self-citations) rise from last year’s 61 to 86 this year.
 
The 2017 Annual Report collected the international citation numbers of 6210 academic journals run by Chinese universities, institutes or publishers.  Based on these citation data, the International Clout Index of each journal was formulated.  In humanities and social sciences, the top 60 journals make up the lists of "2017 The Highest International Impact Academic Journals of China", and the next 60 journals constitute the “2017 Excellent International Impact Academic Journals of China”.  Among the 120 journals on the two lists, FEC is one of the only two English language journals in economics.

The award is for a paper of excellence relating China or the Chinese Diaspora, selected from the papers presented at the 2017 CEA Conference at St Francis Xavier University.  The selection committee comprised of Loren Brandt (University of Toronto), Zhiqi Chen (Carleton University) and Yingfeng Xu (University of Alberta).

Frontiers of Economics in China (FEC) is a double-blind peer-reviewed journal published by Higher Education Press and edited at the Institute for Advanced Research (IAR), Shanghai University of Finance and Economics. Issued quarterly and distributed worldwide, it is available both online and in hard-copy.  With more than 600 institutional subscribers worldwide and indexed in more than 10 databases including ESCI, EconLit, RePEc and SCOPUS, the journal was ranked as one of “The Highest International Impact Academic Journals of China” in 2016 and 2019.
The FEC welcomes submissions of theoretical and empirical papers from all fields of economics, particularly those with an emphasis on the Chinese economy and other emerging, developing or transition economies. While the journal is primarily interested in original research papers, it also welcomes submissions of opinion articles, literature surveys, and book reviews.

On the morning of June 13th, the 2016 FEC Editors’ Annual Meeting was held at Room 801, School of Economics, SUFE. Executive Editor Prof. Zhiqi Chen presided over the meeting. Present at the meeting were Prof. Guoqiang Tian, Editor of the FEC and Dean of IAR; Co-Editors Prof. Chunrong Ai, Prof. Kevin Xiaodong Huang and Prof. Guanzhong James Wen; Liguo Lin, Vice Dean of IAR; Yuanyuan Chen, IAR Assistant to Dean and head in charge of the FEC editorial office administration; Xudong Chen, IAR Assistant to Dean; Mr. Hai Liu, Director of Social Science and Humanities Academic Publications, Higher Education Press; along with two editor assistants.

At the meeting, Prof. Guoqiang Tian spoke highly of the work done by the editorial team and Higher Education Press, and expressed wishes for all parties to make persistent efforts for further progress considering that the journal was still at a critical initial period of growth. The editorial staff presented a work report and shared with the participants various indicators and performance metrics of the journal in the last few years. Prof. Zhiqi Chen briefed the meeting on the progress of the special issue on international trade. Director Hai Liu reported FEC’s new achievements in database inclusion and new media publicity. The participants had in-depth discussions on the adjustment of the aims and scope of the FEC, double-blind review policy, and relevant financial regulations, and exchanged ideas on overseas publisher cooperation plan, further improvement of the FEC’s international influence, language quality guarantee of published papers, etc. The meeting approved the proposal of adjusting the scope of the FEC according to the principle of highlighting its characteristics, properly extending the emphasis of its previous scope from “the Chinese economy or other transition economies” to “the Chinese economy and other, emerging, developing or transition economies”.
