Advantages of combined physiotherapeutic methods are illustrated with special reference to the application of magnetic fields. Principal magnetotherapeutic techniques used in combination with other instrumental treatments are described, such as magnetolaser therapy, drug magnetophoresis, magnetophonotherapy, vibromagnetotherapy, thermomagnetotherapy, photomagnetotherapy, hydromagnetotherapy, etc. Further prospects for the development of combined magnetotherapeutic techniques are discussed.
An open comparative prospective study was carried out for the purpose of evaluation of the possibility to apply a psycho-physiological method based on the use of biological feedback mechanism in addition to extremely high frequency electromagnetic radiation (EHF puncture) for the combined treatment of essential arterial hypertension in adolescents. The study showed that this approach substantially (by 14.6%) enhances the efficiency of treatment in terms of normalization of vegetative homeostasis and bran bioelectrical activity.
The objective of the present study was to evaluate metabolic and therapeutic benefits of inclusion of mineral water and fermented mare's milk (koumiss) in sanatorium-and-spa-based treatment of 144 patients with arterial hypertension presenting with the signs of obesity and insulin resistance. It was shown that combined therapy including the use of weakly mineralized hydrocarbonate-sulphate-calcium-magnesium water, natural koumiss, and mineral sodium chloride baths promotes reduction of hyperglycemia and insulinemia. Simultaneously, this treatment had hypolipidemic effect, increased activity of antioxidative enzymes, inhibited peroxide metabolism, and improved endothelial function. It is concluded that the study demonstrates synergism of drinking koumiss and balneotherapeutic procedures employed to treat arterial hypertension.
The frequency and severity of locomotor disturbances after ischemic stroke necessitate the development of new methods for their correction based on the use of conversion technologies. We undertook a study that demonstrated high efficiency of dynamic proprioceptive correction with the use of a "Regent" remedial suit providing external axial load in patients who had experienced ischemic stroke. It was shown that inclusion of this technique in the rehabilitative treatment of patients with post-stroke hemipareses reduced the degree of asymmetry and promoted stability of the vertical posture. At the same time, difficulty with moving the legs was partly corrected and walking ability improved; simultaneously, severity of pareses diminished and deep sensibility recovered.
This study was designed to study effect of ozone on low and high molecular weight compounds in septic patients. It demonstrated delayed detoxifying action of ozone therapy. Biotransformation of high-molecular weight toxins into lower molecular weight compounds is maintained to be the principal mechanism of detoxifying action of ozone therapy in septic patients
The objective of the present study was to evaluate effects of local barotherapy on dynamics of neural and neurovascular disturbances in patients with cervical compressive radicular syndromes. Patients with the same problems receiving medicamentous therapy comprised the control group. It was shown that inclusion of barotherapy in the combined treatment of patients with cervical vertebrogenic compressive radiculopathies allows the efficiency of their management to be enhanced due to improvement of the functional state of the peripheral neuromotor apparatus and correction of neurovascular disorders in the extremities.
The article is devoted to the nails psoriasis treatment. It is the actual problem of the reconstructive medicine, dermatology and cosmetology. Prevalence of the disease, negative life quality effect and small treatment outcomes arouse the heightened interest to the disease in recent years. The author's materials about the nails psoriasis multimodality therapy with the local PUVA-baths are in the article. It is quite new method of nails psoriasis therapy. The findings indicate that PUVA-baths have a positive influence to the nail matrix structure. That is confirmed by ultrasonography data and dermatological index reduction.
The use of natural therapeutic factors for the prevention of various diseases is a topical problem facing public health services. The present study was undertaken at the Department of Health Resort Resources, Pyatigorsk State Research Institute of Balneotherapeutics, to elucidate physico-chemical composition of therapeutic muds and clays in compliance with the relevant guidelines currently in force. It is proposed to use additional resources (industrially packed peloids and the respective substrates) to promote further development of spa and resort areas as well as health facilities located in them. New efficacious methods for the analysis of biologically active compounds contained in therapeutic muds are described as a basis of differential therapy and the choice of the most adequate natural and prefabricated peloids for this purpose.
The authors overview the history of development of pediatric sanatorium-and-spa medicine based at the Caucasian Mineral Waters health resort zone. Results of application of natural climatic factors of this area to the treatment of bronchial asthma in children suggest the possibility of their wider differential use for the therapy of a variety of respiratory diseases.
New technologies have been developed for the rehabilitative treatment of patients suffering erosive-ulcerative lesions in the gastroduodenal region that allow to achieve a 1.5-fold enhancement of the efficiency of managing these problems based at a health resort facility. Introduction of natural therapeutic factors in modern low-cost technologies of the treatment of erosive-ulcerative lesions in the gastroduodenal region is shown to increase its effectiveness by 25-30% and reduce the cost by 10-15% under conditions of sanatorium-and-spa, outpatient and inpatient settings.
A method of exercise therapy has been developed to be applied for the treatment of patients suffering from arterial hypertension and neurocirculatory dystonia of hypertensive type. The necessity to include physical exercises in the therapy for the improvement of hemodynamics and elimination of muscular disbalance is substantiated using a variety of approaches, such as post-isometric relaxation, correction of respiratory stereotype and normalization of locomotor stereotype, equilibrium function training, coordination of movements, and enhancement of exercise tolerance.
The author reviews main stages of the development of Research Institute of Medical Climatology and Rehabilitative Treatment, Siberian Division of Russian Academy of Medical Sciences. The structure and principal lines of research activities of the Institute are described.
