More than 100 years ago, urology was recognized as an independent specialty. It is a dynamic and rapidly evolving field that plays a critical role in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of a wide range of urologic disorders. Over the past few decades, a splendid range of diagnostic options and therapeutic strategies in uro-oncology, endourology, female urology, and andrology has emerged. In particular, the explosion in precision medicine in the field of urology has revolutionized the way urologic malignancies are treated, and has led research and discovery on a new journey.
In this context, UroPrecision (UP), a new urology journal, has been founded for the precision medicine era, and will be dedicated to publishing work on cutting-edge innovation and research in urology. The platform has been established for researchers, urologists, urologic oncologists, and other clinicians, to share insights and discoveries, and to advance the field of urology through rigorous scientific inquiry.
The new journal focuses on precision medicine, which is a new approach that considers an individual's genetic makeup, lifestyle, and environmental factors when developing treatment plans, offers something new in publishing in this field. Indeed, precision medicine is particularly important in urology, where personalized treatment plans can improve outcomes and reduce the risk of complications. It is an approach that may also reduce healthcare costs.
To reflect its stated focus, UP will publish papers that investigate advanced genomic, proteomic, and metabolomic technologies to develop personalized treatment plans for urologic diseases. It will also feature papers that explore the ethical and social implications of precision medicine, and that examine the impact of the new approach on patient outcomes.
UP will cover a wide range of topics in uro-oncology, endourology, robotic surgery, female urology, andrology, translational urology, pediatric urology, and sexual medicine. Novel diagnostic and imaging techniques will feature, along with innovative surgical procedures, such as minimally invasive surgery, single-port and robotic surgery, and urologic telesurgery. We will publish work on emerging treatments, such as for urologic malignancies, as well as on artificial intelligence, on epidemiology and public health research, and on a full range of advances in medical therapies.
We believe that collaboration and communication are essential for the advancement of the field of urology. With continuous and targeted research, innovation, and communication, we can work toward a future where precision medicine is the norm in urologic care.
It is with enthusiasm that we launch this new journal. Our editorial board is composed of worldwide experts in clinical urology and urologic research and we look forward together to publishing groundbreaking research that will improve the lives of millions of people around the world, and to working with our colleagues in the field to expand the boundaries of urologic science.
The editorial team at UP sincerely encourages and invites clinicians and researchers from all over the world to join us and contribute original research, to participate in our vibrant scientific community, and to promote the profile of precision medicine in clinical practice. Let us turn UP the volume of precision medicine in urology together!
