Aims & scope

Sleep Research is a peer-reviewed, international journal of sleep, circadian science, and sleep medicine, and is the official journal of the Chinese Sleep Research Society. Sleep Research serves as a forum for discussion of the proceedings in sleep research and sleep medicine. The journal commits to publish innovative, high-impact research findings in the field that delineate the nature, causes, mechanisms and treatments of sleep, circadian rhythm, and related disorders.

The journal seeks to publish original basic, translational, mechanistic, and clinical research as well as epidemiologic and clinical study in the sleep field. Sleep Research welcomes submissions that use a wide variety of scientific approaches and span a broad range of topics related to sleep and circadian rhythm. These may include, but not limited to:

  1. Basic research about the mechanisms of sleep and circadian science
  2. Exploration of genes and genetic modifications involved in the regulatory mechanisms of sleep and circadian, and their related diseases.
  3. Epidemiologic and clinical studies to explore the prevalence, risk factors, course, and consequences of sleep and circadian behaviors and disorders
  4. Clinical trials to develop and examine the innovative treatment approaches for sleep disorders, including drugs, non-invasive physical therapies, traditional Chinese medicine, molecular therapies, etc.
  5. Innovative assessment approaches to measure sleep and circadian rhythm in both animals and human beings.
  6. Behaviors and diseases related sleep and sleep disorders, such as neurodegeneration, mental disorders.
