With the implementation of German Industry 4.0, Industrial Internet of the US and “China Manufacturing 2025”, the global manufacturing is in a crucial stage of transformation. As the pillar industry in China, the manufacturing industry is also marching for the new round of transformation.

Year 2016 is the beginning of China's 13th “Five-Year Plan” and also the starting point for moving towards the intelligent manufacturing systematically. With Chinese economy entering a new normal stage, there are profound changes in the comparative advantages, driving momentum and external environment of manufacturing. Therefore, intelligent manufacturing will be a major force in implementing “China Manufacturing 2025” strategy and play a significant role in pushing forward the national economic development at a medium and high speed as well as enhancing Chinese industry to the medium and high level.

The main objective of this Special Issue is to bring together the new and innovative ideas, experiences and research results from researchers and practitioners on all aspects of Intelligent Manufacturing.

We invite authors to submit original research to this Special Issue in following potential topics. The topics will include, but not limited to:
