Washington, DC,February 7, 2018, the US National Academy of Engineering (NAE) announced the newly elected class of NAE. Professor Jiming Hao, a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, waselected to be one of the new 16 foreign members of NAE. Election to the NAE is among the highest professional distinctions accorded to an engineer, and Professor Jiming Hao was elected for his leadership in the development and implementation of air pollution control theory, strategy, and technologies.
Professor Jiming Hao,professor and dean of Institute of Environmental Science and Engineering, Tsinghua University, and director of Tsinghua-Toyota Research Center, Beijing, China, has devoted to researches on energy, environment, and air pollution controlfor decades after obtaining his PhD degree from University of Cincinnati, USA. He played a leading role in prevention and control of acid rain pollution and motor vehicle pollution, and promoted the jointregional air pollution control in China.Due to his outstandingscientific contributions, he was elected to the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) in 2005. He was awarded the National Award for Progress in Science and Technology 3 times, the National Natural Science Award once, the National Technological Invention Award once; and he also won the 2015 Haagen-Smit Clean Air Awards and IBM Global Faculty Award (2016).
Professor Jiming Hao is the Editors-in-Chief of Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering (FESE).
