Special Issue on Agriculture in Arid Areas
Frontiers of Agricultural Science and Engineering (FASE), 2017

Background, Objectives and Scope
Agriculture in arid areas is rapidly changing throughout the world. However, in most parts of the arid and semi-arid areas (esp. In northwestern China), the shortage of water resources, the deterioration of water and soil condition and low-efficient agricultural water use have become the roadblock for the regional agricultural production and economic development.

In order to share frontier research achievements and discuss the scientific challenges in this field, we plan to organize and publish Agriculture in Arid Areas in Frontiers of Agricultural Science and Engineering (FASE).

Authors are invited to submit letter, original research and critical review papers. In this special issue, we welcome contributions on:

   1. Crop drought tolerance
   2. Climate change and modelling
   3. Agricultural science and technology
   4. Regional hydrology and ecology
   5. Grain production and water footprint
   6. Sustainable use of land and water resources

Submissions open: 1 December 2016 –28 February 2017
Decision deadline: 28 February 2017
Expected publication date: June 2017
