Frontiers of Engineering Management is a research journal sponsored by the Chinese Academy of Engineering, administered jointly by Tsinghua University and Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and published by Higher Education Press, China. The journal is international in its scope and mission. It is published quarterly in English in both print and online versions. Frontiers of Engineering Management provides a high-quality international platform for academic researchers, industry professionals and other constituent communities in the broad field of engineering management to impart and share the latest research results and knowledge in the form of research articles, reviews, letters and comments.
Frontiers of Engineering Management strives to promote the advancement of the science of engineering management, the improvement of the practice of engineering management, and the preparation of researchers and practitioners to address contemporary and future challenges in engineering management. The topics covered by the journal include general, specialty and cross-disciplinary studies in engineering management, both theoretical and applied, and studies related to engineering management education worldwide.
Aims and scope
Frontiers of Engineering and Management announces a forthcoming issue on “Management of Road and Railway Traffic and Transportation Engineering”. In recent years, with the development of road and railway transportation industries, a variety of complicated decision-making problems have emerged in the real-world applications. It is urgent to analyze these problems from the perspective of theoretical and methodological innovations, and provide methods in management, decision-making and application so as to achieve efficient operations of traffic and transportation systems. In fact, these problems have also attracted tremendous attention from both theoretical researchers and practical engineers, and all of the relevant focuses intend to develop effective and efficient approaches for smooth operation of the road and railway traffic systems.
This issue aims to cover all aspects including management, optimization, control and other related techniques to find effective solutions/policies and assist in making the best possible decision-makings in the field of road and railway traffic and transportation engineering. It also provides a forum for the latest and significant researches in designing, planning, and managing the complex transportation systems. Moreover, this issue also intends to provide a platform for employing theoretical results to support reasonable decision making in the related fields of traffic and transportation. The relevant topics should focus on theories and applications of traffic and transportation management in road and railway transportation industries.
Topics to be covered include (but are not limited to) the following: traffic safety; traffic policy; traffic flow; design and analysis of transportation networks; control and scheduling; logistics; traveler or shipper behavior; cost-benefit methodologies; environmental impacts of transportation; intermodal transportation; intelligent transportation systems; real-time operations, etc.
